‘Bring the rocks in’ is the first idea we had when we went on site. We believe that the existing rocks hold a lot of character and are an anchor to our design. Working with the rocks, we propose a new limit, using native plants and dry stone walls to complete them where needed.
The concept is based on an opposition between hardscape and softscape : on the terrace above the parking we are including a one lawn square within a large open hardscaped area. On the ‘garden’ side, the dominant element is the ‘green’, and seating areas are small insertions within it. In both cases seating areas are placed in a way to benefit from the existing views.
