Located on the East coast of Saudi Arabia, the site is located within a desert landscape with very hot summer and short winters. With an rainfall average of less than 80mm, we developed a landscape approach aiming at creating different landscape typologies leading from the existing desertic landscape to a lush landscape. Our approach promotes the connection to the existing context to ensure a sustainable project that will require minimum maintenance and
Irrigation. While reserving the lush areas to spaces that the community will share, such as parks or private gardens, the rest of the site is organized gradually towards a buffer desertic landscape. In addition to the shared urban planted areas, the project includes a natural play area that showcases drought tolerant plants and other natural materials.
